Child seriously injured after being struck by vehicle in North York: paramedics

A young child has been left with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in North York, according to paramedics.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Finch Avenue West. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3:30 p.m.

According to Toronto Paramedic Services spokesperson Kim McKinnon, the child was rushed to a nearby trauma centre in critical condition.

The age and gender of the child have not been disclosed at this time.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. It is unclear at this time if any charges will be laid.

The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident. It has since reopened to traffic.
