The new year has begun on a positive note for mayors across the region, as they gather to discuss their plans and goals for the upcoming months.
At the annual Mayor’s Breakfast, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, local mayors shared their visions for their respective communities. The event, held at the Brockville Country Club, was attended by business leaders, community members, and government officials.
Brockville Mayor Jason Baker kicked off the event by highlighting the city’s accomplishments in 2019, including the opening of the new Aquatarium and the successful hosting of the Ontario 55+ Winter Games. He also emphasized the importance of economic development and job creation in the city.
Mayor Baker’s sentiments were echoed by other mayors, who all expressed their commitment to promoting growth and prosperity in their municipalities. Gananoque Mayor Ted Lojko spoke about the town’s plans for revitalizing its downtown core, while Prescott Mayor Brett Todd discussed the importance of investing in infrastructure to attract new businesses.
The mayors also addressed the issue of collaboration and working together as a region. Leeds and Grenville Warden Pat Sayeau emphasized the need for cooperation between municipalities to achieve common goals and tackle shared challenges.
The event also featured a keynote speech by Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark. Minister Clark praised the region’s mayors for their dedication to their communities and encouraged them to continue working together to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.
As the breakfast came to a close, it was clear that the mayors were united in their determination to make 2020 a successful year for their communities. With a strong focus on collaboration and economic development, the future looks bright for the region.
