Saskatoon Welcomes First Baby of 2025

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – The city of Saskatoon welcomed its first baby of the new year on January 1st, 2025. The baby, a healthy boy, was born at 12:01 am at the Royal University Hospital.

Proud parents, Sarah and Michael Johnson, were overjoyed to welcome their son, who they have named Benjamin, into the world. “We are so grateful and blessed to have our little bundle of joy arrive on the first day of the new year,” said Sarah Johnson.

The Johnsons were not expecting to have the first baby of the year, but they are thrilled to have this special distinction. “It’s a great way to start off the new year and we hope it brings good luck to our family,” said Michael Johnson.

The first baby of the year is a tradition that is celebrated in many cities around the world. In Saskatoon, the family received a special gift basket filled with baby essentials and gift cards from local businesses. The hospital also presented the family with a commemorative certificate to mark the occasion.

According to the hospital staff, the delivery went smoothly and both mother and baby are doing well. “It’s always a joy to welcome the first baby of the year. It’s a special moment for the family and for us as well,” said Dr. Emily Brown, the attending physician.

The Johnsons are excited to take their new baby home and start their journey as a family of three. “We can’t wait to see what the future holds for our little Benjamin,” said Sarah Johnson.

The arrival of the first baby of the year is a reminder of the new beginnings and hope that comes with the start of a new year. The city of Saskatoon wishes the Johnson family all the best and looks forward to watching Benjamin grow and thrive in the years to come.
