The company’s president, Jean-François Bilodeau, explains that the delays in the immigration process have caused significant delays in their production schedule.
In addition to delays, the pandemic has also made it more difficult to find temporary foreign workers willing to come to Canada. Many workers are hesitant to leave their home countries during a global health crisis, and some have even had their work permits revoked due to border closures.
The Quebec government has recognized the challenges faced by the manufacturing industry and has taken steps to address the issue. In May, the government announced a $100 million investment to help businesses recruit and train local workers.
