A truck driver has been charged with careless driving following a crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the truck driver failed to slow down and rear-ended the passenger vehicle, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the truck driver was uninjured.

The OPP have charged the truck driver with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The driver’s name has not been released.

The crash caused a temporary closure of the highway, resulting in traffic delays for several hours.
