The North Bay Battalion dominated the Sarnia Sting in a neutral site preseason game on Friday night, with a final score of 6-2.

The game, which took place at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, was the first of two preseason matchups between the two teams. The second game will be played on Sunday at the North Bay Memorial Gardens.

The Battalion came out strong in the first period, with Luke Moncada scoring the first goal of the game just over two minutes in. The Sting quickly responded with a goal from Jacob Perreault, but the Battalion regained the lead with a goal from Brandon Coe.

In the second period, the Battalion continued to dominate, with goals from Brad Chenier and Moncada, bringing the score to 4-1. The Sting managed to score one more goal in the period, but the Battalion maintained their lead.

The third period saw the Battalion extend their lead even further, with goals from Coe and Moncada, completing his hat trick for the night. The Sting were unable to mount a comeback, resulting in a decisive victory for the Battalion.

Battalion head coach Stan Butler was pleased with his team’s performance, stating, “I thought we played a pretty solid game. We had a lot of guys who played well and we got some good goaltending.”

The Battalion’s next preseason game will be against the Sudbury Wolves on September 13th, followed by their home opener against the Niagara IceDogs on September 20th.

The Battalion are looking to improve upon their record from last season, where they finished fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 30-33-3-2. With a strong start to their preseason, it seems they are on the right track to achieving their goals for the upcoming season.
