A vehicle fire on the Okanagan Connector near Peachland has caused partial lane blockage, according to reports from the scene.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, with emergency crews responding to the scene around 2:30 p.m. The fire was reportedly located on the westbound side of the highway, just before the turnoff to Peachland.
Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke billowing from the vehicle, which appeared to be a pickup truck. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Traffic in the area was impacted as one lane was blocked off to allow emergency vehicles to access the scene. Drivers were advised to use caution and expect delays while the situation was being dealt with.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time. The driver of the vehicle was able to safely exit before the fire spread.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames, but the vehicle sustained significant damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
As of 3:30 p.m., the lane blockage had been cleared and traffic was flowing normally once again.
