A man has been arrested in Ottawa for a sexual assault that occurred in Renfrew, according to police.
The incident took place on Saturday, July 10th, when a woman reported being sexually assaulted by a man she knew. The victim was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect, which led to his arrest.
The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit worked diligently on the case and were able to identify and locate the suspect. He was arrested on Wednesday, July 14th, and charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement.
The accused, 32-year-old John Smith, appeared in court on Thursday, July 15th, and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday, July 23rd.
