Brantford, ON – The first case of human West Nile virus has been reported in Brantford since 2020, according to local health officials.
The Brant County Health Unit confirmed that a resident has tested positive for the virus, which is transmitted through mosquito bites. This marks the first human case in the city since 2020, when there were a total of three reported cases.

In addition to protecting themselves, residents are also encouraged to help reduce the mosquito population by eliminating any standing water on their properties, as this is where mosquitoes breed.
