Kelowna’s Luckhurst Farm & Distillery recently played host to the annual Okanagan Feast of Fields, a celebration of local food and drink that drew in crowds from all over the region.
The event, which took place on September 12th, showcased the best of the Okanagan’s culinary scene, with over 50 local chefs, farmers, and producers coming together to offer a taste of their finest creations. From farm-fresh produce to artisanal cheeses and award-winning wines, the Feast of Fields had something for everyone to enjoy.
Attendees were able to wander through the picturesque farm, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards, while sampling a wide variety of delicious dishes and beverages. The event also featured live music, cooking demonstrations, and educational workshops, providing a well-rounded experience for all who attended.
One of the highlights of the event was the Farm to Table Dinner, where guests were treated to a five-course meal prepared by renowned local chefs using ingredients sourced directly from the farm. This unique dining experience truly showcased the farm-to-table concept and highlighted the importance of supporting local agriculture.
But the Feast of Fields was not just about indulging in delicious food and drinks. It also had a strong focus on sustainability and supporting the local community. All proceeds from the event went towards supporting FarmFolk CityFolk, a non-profit organization that works to cultivate a sustainable food system in British Columbia.
The Luckhurst family, who have been farming in the Okanagan for over 100 years, were proud to host this event and showcase the bounty of their land. They believe in the importance of connecting people with their food and supporting local producers, and the Feast of Fields was the perfect platform to do just that.
As the sun set over the farm and the event came to a close, it was clear that the Okanagan Feast of Fields was a huge success. Not only did it bring together the community to celebrate and enjoy the best of local food and drink, but it also raised awareness and support for sustainable agriculture in the region.
The Luckhurst Farm & Distillery and all those involved in organizing and participating in the Feast of Fields should be commended for their efforts in promoting and preserving the rich culinary culture of the Okanagan. This event truly showcased the best of what the region has to offer and left attendees with a deeper appreciation for the importance of supporting local food and drink.
