Guelph Gryphons and Windsor Lancers to Face Off in Exhibition Hockey Game in Blenheim
Hockey fans in Blenheim, Ontario are in for a treat as the Guelph Gryphons and Windsor Lancers are set to play an exhibition game at the Blenheim Memorial Arena on October 5th.
The game, organized by the Blenheim Blades Junior C hockey team, will see the two university teams face off in a pre-season match. This will be the first time the two teams have played against each other in Blenheim.
The Guelph Gryphons, who compete in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) league, are coming off a successful season where they finished second in the OUA standings and made it to the semi-finals of the U Sports national championship. They will be looking to continue their winning streak in this exhibition game.
On the other hand, the Windsor Lancers, also part of the OUA, had a tough season last year, finishing in 10th place in the standings. However, they will be looking to turn things around and start the new season on a positive note with a win against the Gryphons.
The Blenheim Memorial Arena, which has a capacity of 1,200, is expected to be filled with enthusiastic fans from both teams. The arena has a rich history in hockey, having been home to the Blenheim Blades since 1969.
According to Blenheim Blades president, Mark Davis, the exhibition game is a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy some high-level hockey.
“We are thrilled to host this exhibition game between two top university teams. It’s a great chance for our community to come out and support these talented players,” said Davis.
The game is also a chance for local hockey fans to see some familiar faces on the ice. Both teams have players from the Chatham-Kent area, including Guelph’s own Ryan Gagner, who hails from nearby Ridgetown.
Tickets for the game will be available at the door for $10, with all proceeds going towards the Blenheim Blades Junior C hockey team.
So mark your calendars and come out to support the Guelph Gryphons and Windsor Lancers as they face off in an exciting exhibition game in Blenheim. Puck drop is at 7:30 pm on October 5th. Don’t miss out on this thrilling hockey event!
