A tragic car crash in Prince Edward County has left one person dead and two others injured, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The incident occurred on Saturday evening on County Road 1 near County Road 5. OPP were called to the scene at around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers found that a pickup truck and a sedan had collided head-on. The driver of the sedan, a 35-year-old man from Prince Edward County, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the pickup truck, a 40-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that the sedan may have crossed the center line, resulting in the collision.
The OPP have not released the names of the victims at this time, pending notification of next of kin.
County Road 1 was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. It has since been reopened to traffic.
