The North Bay Battalion emerged victorious in a thrilling shootout against the Barrie Colts in their recent junior hockey match.

The game, which took place at the Barrie Molson Centre, saw both teams put up a strong fight. The first period saw the Colts take an early lead with a goal from forward Tyson Foerster. However, the Battalion quickly responded with a goal from defenseman Simon Rose, tying the game at 1-1.

The second period saw both teams continue to battle it out, with neither side able to gain an advantage. The Colts’ goaltender, Jet Greaves, made some impressive saves to keep his team in the game. On the other end, Battalion goalie Joe Vrbetic also put on a strong performance, denying the Colts any further goals.

The third period saw the Colts take the lead once again, with a goal from forward Luke Bignell. But the Battalion refused to back down and forward Brandon Coe scored a crucial goal to tie the game once again.

In the shootout, the Battalion’s Coe and defenseman Pacey Schlueting both scored, while Vrbetic made two crucial saves to secure the win for North Bay.

This victory marks the Battalion’s third win in a row, bringing their record to 6-4-0-0 for the season. The team’s head coach, Ryan Oulahen, praised his players for their resilience and determination in the face of a tough opponent.

The Battalion will look to continue their winning streak as they face off against the Sudbury Wolves in their next game. Meanwhile, the Colts will aim to bounce back from this loss as they take on the Niagara IceDogs.
