GANANOQUE – The Gananoque Visitor Centre has undergone a spooky transformation just in time for Halloween. The centre, which is typically a hub for tourism information, has been turned into a haunted house for the month of October.
The idea for the haunted house came from the Gananoque Business Improvement Area (BIA), who wanted to bring a new and exciting event to the town. The BIA partnered with local businesses and community members to create a frightening experience for visitors.
The haunted house features a variety of spooky scenes and decorations, including a creepy cemetery, a mad scientist’s laboratory, and a haunted forest. Visitors can also expect to encounter live actors who will be sure to give them a good scare.
According to BIA coordinator, Susan Smith, the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. “We’ve had a lot of people come through and they’ve all been really impressed with the level of detail and effort that has gone into creating this haunted house,” she said.
The haunted house is not only a fun and spooky experience, but it also serves as a fundraiser for local charities. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Gananoque and District Humane Society and the Gananoque Food Bank.
The Gananoque Visitor Centre’s haunted house is open every Friday and Saturday in October from 7pm to 10pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in their best Halloween costumes for a chance to win prizes.
So if you’re looking for a frightfully good time this Halloween season, be sure to check out the Gananoque Visitor Centre’s haunted house. Not only will you have a spooktacular experience, but you’ll also be supporting local charities in the process.
