Brockville Police have charged two individuals with impaired driving in separate and unrelated incidents.
The first incident occurred on Friday night, when officers responded to a call about a possible impaired driver on Stewart Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle that had collided with a curb and sustained significant damage. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.
In a separate incident on Saturday night, police received a report of a vehicle driving erratically on King Street West. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, during which they determined that the driver was impaired. The 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.
Both individuals have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Their names have not been released in order to protect their privacy.
Brockville Police would like to remind the public that impaired driving is a serious offense that puts not only the driver, but also other road users at risk. They urge anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired to contact the police immediately.
These incidents serve as a reminder to always plan ahead and have a designated driver or alternative transportation arranged if consuming alcohol. The consequences of impaired driving can be severe and can have a lasting impact on both the driver and innocent bystanders.
Brockville Police will continue to actively enforce impaired driving laws in order to keep the community safe. They encourage anyone with information about impaired driving to come forward and report it.
