The Chatham Maroons put up a valiant effort in their game against the Listowel Cyclones, but ultimately fell short in a shootout loss.
The game started off strong for the Maroons, with a goal from Evan Wells just 1:30 into the first period. However, the Cyclones quickly responded with two goals of their own, taking the lead.
The Maroons continued to fight back, with a goal from Maddux Rychel in the second period to tie the game at 2-2. But the Cyclones once again took the lead with a goal from Brayden Krieger.
In the third period, the Maroons were determined to make a comeback. They outshot the Cyclones 14-6 and were finally able to tie the game with a goal from Kyle Fisher.
The game remained tied through overtime, leading to a shootout. Both teams had their chances, but it was the Cyclones who came out on top with a final score of 4-3.
Despite the loss, the Maroons showed resilience and determination throughout the game. Head coach Kyle Makaric praised his team’s effort, stating, “We battled hard and never gave up. That’s the kind of effort we need to see every game.”
The Maroons will look to bounce back in their next game against the Strathroy Rockets. With their strong performance against the Cyclones, they are sure to come out with the same determination and fight for a win.
