Winnipeg father of 5 dies by suicide less than a year after devastating house fire

Tragedy struck a Winnipeg family as a father died by suicide after a devastating house fire.

According to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the fire broke out in the early hours of Monday morning at a home on the 100 block of Bannerman Avenue. Firefighters arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m. and were able to quickly extinguish the flames.

However, upon further investigation, they discovered the body of a man inside the home. He was later identified as the father of the family who lived in the house.

The Winnipeg Police Service confirmed that the man’s death was a result of suicide. They also stated that there were no other injuries reported from the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities believe it may have started in the basement of the home.

Neighbors and friends of the family expressed shock and sadness upon hearing the news. They described the father as a kind and loving man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
