Five individuals have been charged after a significant amount of suspected fentanyl was seized during a raid in Chatham, Ontario.
According to the Chatham-Kent Police Service, the raid took place on Wednesday at a residence on Grand Avenue East. The investigation was a joint effort between the police service’s Intelligence Unit and the Drug Enforcement Unit.
During the raid, officers seized a total of 25 grams of suspected fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $12,500. They also found a large amount of Canadian currency, drug paraphernalia, and a prohibited weapon.
As a result of the investigation, five individuals were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. The accused include a 33-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman. All five individuals are from Chatham and are currently in police custody.
