A tragic head-on collision in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews has claimed the lives of two women.
According to the RCMP, the crash occurred on Highway 9 near the intersection of Road 81N on Tuesday afternoon. The two vehicles involved, a pickup truck and a car, collided head-on, resulting in severe damage to both vehicles.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and pronounced both women, who were the drivers of the respective vehicles, deceased. Their identities have not been released at this time.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that one of the vehicles may have crossed the center line, leading to the head-on impact.
The highway was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage. It has since been reopened to traffic.
