The Ottawa 67’s have a long history of producing top-notch goaltenders, but one name stands out above the rest: Ryder Fetterolf. The 19-year-old netminder has solidified his place in the team’s history as the best goalie to ever don the 67’s jersey.
Fetterolf’s journey with the 67’s began in the 2018-2019 season when he was drafted in the fourth round. He quickly made an impact, appearing in 27 games and posting a 2.83 goals against average (GAA) and a .903 save percentage (SV%). But it was in the following season that Fetterolf truly shone.
In the shortened 2019-2020 season, Fetterolf played in 38 games and recorded an impressive 2.14 GAA and .927 SV%. He also earned a spot on the OHL’s Second All-Rookie Team. But it was in the playoffs where Fetterolf truly proved his worth. He led the 67’s to the OHL finals, posting a 2.33 GAA and .915 SV% in 17 playoff games.
Fetterolf’s performance in the 2020-2021 season solidified his place as the best goalie in 67’s history. He appeared in 23 games and recorded a 2.14 GAA and .915 SV%. He also earned a spot on the OHL’s First All-Star Team and was named the OHL’s Goaltender of the Year.
But it’s not just his statistics that make Fetterolf stand out. It’s his leadership and determination on and off the ice. He has been a key mentor to younger players and has shown a strong work ethic and dedication to his craft.
Fetterolf’s success with the 67’s has also translated to the international stage. He represented Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he helped lead the team to a silver medal.
As Fetterolf’s junior hockey career comes to an end, he leaves behind a legacy that will be hard to match. He holds the 67’s franchise record for most career wins (55) and is tied for the most career shutouts (7). He also ranks second in career GAA (2.36) and SV% (.915).
