A man is in critical condition after a shooting in Ottawa on Monday evening.
According to Ottawa Police, the incident occurred around 7:30 pm in the 100 block of Rideau Street. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found with serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting and are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in their investigation.
The area where the shooting took place has been cordoned off as police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Rideau Street between Dalhousie and Cumberland Streets is expected to remain closed for several hours.
This is the second shooting in Ottawa in less than a week. Last Thursday, a 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the city’s west end. Police have not confirmed if the two incidents are related.
Residents in the area have expressed their shock and concern over the recent increase in gun violence in the city. Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has also released a statement, condemning the shooting and urging anyone with information to come forward.

As the investigation continues, the victim remains in critical condition and the community is left reeling from yet another act of violence. The Ottawa Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring those responsible to justice.
