Brockville Police Chief Welcomes Ontario Review
The Brockville Police Chief, Scott Fraser, has expressed his support for the Ontario government’s decision to conduct a review of policing in the province. This announcement was made by the Solicitor General, Sylvia Jones, on Tuesday.
Chief Fraser stated that he welcomes the review and believes it is a positive step towards improving policing in Ontario. He also emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the review process.
The review, which is set to begin in the fall, will focus on three key areas: community safety and well-being, police oversight, and police training and education. It will be led by former Supreme Court Justice, the Honourable Michael Tulloch.
Chief Fraser believes that this review will provide an opportunity to address any gaps or challenges in the current policing system and make necessary improvements. He also hopes that it will lead to a better understanding of the role of police in the community and how they can better serve and protect the public.
The Brockville Police Service has a strong commitment to community policing and has been actively working with community partners to address issues such as mental health, addiction, and homelessness. Chief Fraser believes that this review will further support their efforts in building a safer and more inclusive community.
In addition, Chief Fraser has expressed his willingness to collaborate with the review team and provide any necessary information or insights from his experience as a police chief.
The Ontario government’s decision to conduct a review of policing has been met with support from other police chiefs and organizations, including the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.
In conclusion, Chief Fraser and the Brockville Police Service are looking forward to the review and are committed to working towards a more effective and accountable policing system in Ontario.
