Serial voyeur Kyle Hameluck set for Saskatoon bail hearing after latest arrest

A Saskatoon man, who was previously convicted of voyeurism, has been arrested again after being released from prison.

According to police, 44-year-old Jason John Okimaw was arrested on July 22, 2021, for breaching his release conditions. He was originally sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2019 for multiple counts of voyeurism.

Okimaw’s latest arrest comes after he was released from prison on July 16, 2021, after serving his sentence. Police say he was arrested for being in possession of a cell phone, which is a violation of his release conditions.

The Saskatoon Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit is now investigating the possibility of new charges against Okimaw.

In 2019, Okimaw was convicted of secretly recording women in various states of undress without their consent. The incidents took place between 2015 and 2017, and the victims were known to Okimaw.

During his trial, the court heard that Okimaw had a history of voyeurism and had previously been convicted of similar offenses in 2009.

The Saskatoon Police Service is reminding the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the authorities. They also urge anyone who may have been a victim of Okimaw’s voyeurism to come forward and speak to police.

Okimaw is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26, 2021. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
