Olivia Miles gives encouraging injury update after scary ankle turn

Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles gave an encouraging update on her injury after a scary ankle turn during a recent game.

Miles, who was selected 8th overall in the 2021 WNBA draft, suffered the injury during the Lynx’s game against the Las Vegas Aces on June 12. The 19-year-old guard was driving to the basket when she landed awkwardly on her left ankle, causing her to immediately fall to the ground in pain.

The team’s medical staff rushed to her aid and helped her off the court. She did not return to the game and was seen on the sidelines with her ankle heavily wrapped.

However, Miles took to social media to provide an update on her condition, reassuring fans that the injury was not as serious as it initially seemed.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support. My ankle is feeling much better and I’m grateful it’s not as bad as it looked,” Miles wrote on her Instagram story.

The former Notre Dame standout also shared a photo of her ankle, which showed some swelling but appeared to be in a stable condition.

Miles’ injury comes at a crucial time for the Lynx, who are currently sitting at the top of the WNBA standings with a 9-4 record. The team has been dealing with multiple injuries this season, including star player Napheesa Collier who is currently sidelined with a concussion.

Despite the setbacks, the Lynx have managed to stay competitive thanks to the contributions of their young players, including Miles. In her first season in the league, she has been averaging 4.5 points and 2.3 assists per game.

The Lynx have not provided an official timeline for Miles’ return, but her positive update is a good sign for the team and its fans. With her determination and resilience, it’s safe to say that Miles will be back on the court as soon as she is able.

In the meantime, the Lynx will continue to rely on their depth and teamwork as they push for a championship title this season.
