A man has been arrested and charged with assault after allegedly attacking a person who caught him spray painting Palestinian and Pride flags in Toronto’s west end.

According to Toronto police, the incident occurred on Monday evening near Bloor Street West and Ossington Avenue. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old John Smith, was reportedly seen spray painting over the flags with black paint.

The victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, confronted Smith and attempted to stop him from defacing the flags. However, Smith allegedly became aggressive and assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.
