Chatham native, Andrew Carleton, has been selected to join the Canadian Olympic team for the upcoming Tokyo Games. The 21-year-old soccer player has been making waves in the sports world with his impressive skills and dedication to the game.
Carleton, who currently plays for Atlanta United FC in the Major League Soccer (MLS), was chosen by head coach Mauro Biello to represent Canada in the Olympics. This is a huge accomplishment for Carleton, who has been working hard to reach this level of success.
In addition to his selection for the Olympic team, Carleton was also recently awarded the Intercounty Baseball League’s (IBL) Most Valuable Player award. This award is given to the player who has shown exceptional performance and leadership throughout the season.
Carleton’s achievements in both soccer and baseball are a testament to his talent and determination. He has been a standout player in both sports since a young age, and his hard work has paid off with these recent accolades.
The Chatham native is no stranger to success on the field. He has been a part of the Canadian national team since 2016 and has also represented his country in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Carleton’s skills have also been recognized by MLS, as he was named to the league’s 22 Under 22 list in 2018.
Carleton’s selection for the Olympic team is a proud moment for his hometown of Chatham. He joins a long list of talented athletes who have represented Canada on the world stage.
The Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed from last year due to the pandemic, will take place from July 23 to August 8. Carleton and his fellow Canadian teammates will be competing against some of the best soccer players in the world, and we have no doubt that he will make his hometown proud.
Congratulations to Andrew Carleton on his selection for the Canadian Olympic team and his IBL award. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and look forward to seeing him represent Canada on the world stage.
