A Montreal woman is feeling frightened and violated after spotting a drone outside her bedroom window.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighborhood. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, was getting ready for bed when she noticed a small drone hovering outside her window.
“I was shocked and scared,” she said. “I immediately closed my curtains and called the police.”
According to the woman, the drone was equipped with a camera and appeared to be recording her. She also noticed that it had a logo of a local drone company on it.
The police arrived at the scene and were able to locate the owner of the drone, who was flying it from a nearby park. The owner, who also wishes to remain anonymous, claimed that he was just testing out his new drone and had no intention of invading anyone’s privacy.
However, the woman is still feeling uneasy about the incident. “I feel like my privacy has been violated,” she said. “I don’t know who was controlling the drone or what they were doing with the footage.”
This incident has raised concerns about the use of drones and their potential to invade people’s privacy. In Canada, there are currently no specific laws regulating the use of drones for recreational purposes. However, Transport Canada does have guidelines in place for safe and responsible drone use.
The woman is urging authorities to take action and implement stricter regulations for drone use. “I don’t want anyone else to go through what I experienced,” she said.
In the meantime, she is taking precautions to protect her privacy, such as keeping her curtains closed at all times.
This incident serves as a reminder for drone owners to be mindful of their surroundings and to respect people’s privacy. It also highlights the need for stricter regulations to ensure the safe and responsible use of drones.
