Three dead in pair of related crashes on Manitoba highway: RCMP

Three people have tragically lost their lives in two separate crashes on a Manitoba highway, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

The first crash occurred on Highway 1 near the town of Portage la Prairie on Saturday evening. RCMP responded to reports of a collision between a car and a semi-truck. Upon arrival, they discovered that the driver of the car, a 25-year-old man, had died at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Just a few hours later, another crash took place on the same highway, this time near the town of MacGregor. RCMP were called to the scene of a head-on collision between two vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles, a 35-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later succumbed to her injuries.

RCMP have confirmed that the two crashes are related, as the 29-year-old woman was the passenger in the car involved in the first crash. The investigation is ongoing, but it is believed that weather and road conditions may have been factors in both collisions.

The names of the victims have not been released at this time, pending notification of their families. RCMP are urging drivers to exercise caution and adjust their driving to the current weather and road conditions.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving and being aware of one’s surroundings while on the road. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
