Man charged with sexual assault of teenagers attempts to jump out hotel window: Winnipeg police

A man has been charged with sexual assault after allegedly attempting to jump out of a hotel window in Winnipeg, according to police.

The incident occurred on Monday evening at a hotel in the city’s downtown area. Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to a call about a disturbance and found a man attempting to jump out of a window on the 10th floor.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the man had allegedly sexually assaulted two teenage girls who were also staying at the hotel. The victims, aged 14 and 16, were known to the suspect.

The WPS arrested the man and charged him with two counts of sexual assault, as well as one count of mischief for damaging the hotel room. He was also charged with breaching a court order.

The suspect, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victims, was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained during his attempt to jump out of the window.

The WPS is reminding the public that sexual assault is a serious crime and encourages anyone who has been a victim to come forward and report it to the police.
