Tragedy struck on Highway 2 near Leduc, Alberta as a semi-truck collided with a group of motorcyclists, leaving two dead and six others hospitalized.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, when the semi-truck, traveling southbound on Highway 2, struck the group of motorcyclists who were also traveling southbound. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), two motorcyclists were pronounced dead at the scene, while six others were transported to nearby hospitals with varying degrees of injuries. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
The highway was closed for several hours as emergency responders worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the collision. It has since been reopened to traffic.
