Charges laid after gun, stolen property recovered from Deer Ridge home: Calgary police

Calgary police have laid charges and recovered stolen property after a gun was reported stolen from a home in the Deer Ridge neighborhood.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on December 28, 2020, when a homeowner reported a break-in at their residence. The homeowner also reported that a firearm was missing from their property.

After an investigation, police were able to identify a suspect and execute a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Deer Ridge Lane SE on January 6, 2021.

During the search, officers recovered the stolen firearm, along with other stolen property, including electronics, jewelry, and personal documents.

As a result, 33-year-old Christopher James McLean has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, and multiple firearms-related offences.

Police are reminding residents to properly secure their homes and valuables to prevent break-ins and thefts. They also urge anyone with information about this incident or any other criminal activity to contact the Calgary Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
