A tragic accident on Highway 401 has claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman who was critically injured in a rollover. According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the woman passed away in hospital on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, when the woman was driving eastbound on Highway 401 near the Leslie Street exit. For reasons still under investigation, her vehicle rolled over and she was ejected from the car.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the woman was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries the following day.
The OPP has not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. They are also appealing to any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with their investigation.
The highway was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. It has since been reopened to traffic.
