Liberal leadership: MNA Frederic Beauchemin officially becomes fourth candidate

MONTREAL – The race for the leadership of the Quebec Liberal Party has officially gained its fourth candidate. MNA Frédéric Beauchemin announced his candidacy on Tuesday, joining Dominique Anglade, Alexandre Cusson, and Pierre Arcand in the race.

Beauchemin, who represents the riding of Chapleau in Montreal, made the announcement at a press conference in his riding. He stated that he is running for the leadership because he believes in the values of the Liberal Party and wants to bring a new vision to the party.

“I am convinced that the Liberal Party is the best option for Quebecers,” Beauchemin said. “I want to bring a new perspective and a new energy to the party, and I am ready to work hard to earn the trust of Quebecers.”

Beauchemin, who has been an MNA since 2018, has a background in law and has worked as a lawyer for over 15 years. He also has experience in the private sector, having worked as a legal advisor for various companies.

During his announcement, Beauchemin highlighted his commitment to the environment and his desire to create a more sustainable future for Quebec. He also emphasized the importance of economic development and job creation, stating that he wants to see Quebec become a leader in innovation and technology.

“I believe that we can have a strong economy while also protecting our environment,” Beauchemin said. “We need to invest in green technologies and create new opportunities for our businesses to thrive.”

Beauchemin’s candidacy has been met with support from his fellow Liberal Party members. MNA Dominique Anglade, who is also running for the leadership, welcomed Beauchemin to the race and stated that his experience and vision will be valuable for the party.

“Frédéric is a strong candidate and I am happy to see him join the race,” Anglade said. “His background in law and his commitment to the environment make him a great addition to the team.”

The leadership race for the Quebec Liberal Party will officially begin on October 17, with the new leader being announced on May 21, 2022. The party is currently in opposition, with the Coalition Avenir Québec holding a majority government.
