A couple from Manitoba is still in disbelief after winning millions of dollars on a scratch-and-win ticket.
The newlyweds, who have chosen to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at a convenience store in Winnipeg. They were on their way to a family gathering when they decided to stop and buy a few scratch tickets.
Little did they know, one of those tickets would change their lives forever.
“It does not seem real,” the husband said in an interview with CTV News. “We were just hoping to win enough to cover the cost of our wedding, but this is beyond anything we could have imagined.”
The couple plans to use their winnings to pay off their mortgage, invest in their children’s education, and take a much-needed vacation.
“We’ve always dreamed of traveling, but it was never financially feasible for us,” the wife said. “Now, we can finally make those dreams a reality.”
The store where the winning ticket was purchased will also receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The Manitoba Lottery Corporation (MLC) confirmed that the couple’s ticket was indeed the winning one and congratulated them on their life-changing win.
“We are thrilled for this lucky couple and wish them all the best with their newfound fortune,” said MLC spokesperson Susan Olynik.
The MLC also reminded players to always play responsibly and to know their limits when it comes to gambling.
As for the newlyweds, they are still trying to process their win and are grateful for the unexpected turn of events.
“We are just regular people, and this is a life-changing amount of money for us,” the husband said. “We are going to take our time and make smart decisions with our winnings.”
For now, the couple is enjoying the moment and looking forward to a brighter future thanks to their lucky scratch-and-win ticket.
