A devastating early morning fire has caused significant damage to a home in Saskatoon, leaving the residents displaced and in shock.
The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Monday at a residence on the 100 block of Avenue O South. Firefighters were quickly dispatched to the scene and were met with heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, the fire was brought under control within an hour, but not before causing extensive damage to the structure. The roof of the home collapsed and the interior sustained significant smoke and water damage.
Thankfully, all occupants of the home were able to safely evacuate and no injuries were reported. However, the residents have been displaced and are receiving support from the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have started in the basement of the home. The estimated cost of damages is currently unknown.

The Saskatoon Fire Department is reminding residents to ensure their smoke alarms are in working order and to have a fire escape plan in place. They also urge the public to never leave candles or cooking appliances unattended.
