A man has been arrested after stealing a Vancouver police cruiser and driving it into a neighbourhood park.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when officers responded to a call about a man acting erratically in the Downtown Eastside area. The man, who has not been identified, allegedly assaulted an officer and then stole their marked police vehicle.
The suspect then drove the cruiser into a nearby park, causing damage to the vehicle and surrounding property. Witnesses reported seeing the cruiser driving erratically and at high speeds before crashing into a tree.
