RCMP are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred in a home in northern Manitoba, leaving a 13-year-old injured.
According to authorities, the incident took place on Sunday evening in the community of Norway House Cree Nation. The RCMP were called to the scene after receiving reports of shots being fired at a residence.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 13-year-old had been injured as a result of the shooting. The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
The RCMP’s Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services are now leading the investigation, with assistance from the Norway House RCMP detachment.
At this time, no suspects have been identified and the motive behind the shooting is still unknown. The RCMP are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact the Norway House RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
The community of Norway House Cree Nation is located approximately 800 kilometers north of Winnipeg. It is a remote community accessible only by air or winter road.
