Real True News

The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) has recently announced the launch of a new eLearning course focused on foundational farm insurance. This course aims to provide brokers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively serve their clients in the agricultural sector.

The course, titled “Foundational Farm Insurance,” covers a wide range of topics including farm property and liability insurance, farm equipment and machinery coverage, and livestock insurance. It also delves into the unique risks and challenges faced by farmers, such as weather-related losses and biosecurity concerns.

According to IBAO CEO Colin Simpson, the development of this course was in response to the growing demand for specialized insurance expertise in the agricultural industry. “Farmers have unique insurance needs that require a deep understanding of their operations and the risks they face,” says Simpson. “This course will equip brokers with the knowledge and skills to provide tailored insurance solutions to their farm clients.”

The eLearning course is designed to be interactive and engaging, with real-life case studies and practical examples to enhance the learning experience. It is available to all IBAO members and can be accessed through the association’s online learning platform.

In addition to the course, IBAO has also launched a new Farm Insurance Specialist (FIS) designation. This designation is awarded to brokers who have completed the foundational farm insurance course and have demonstrated a high level of expertise in this area. The FIS designation aims to recognize and promote the specialized knowledge and skills of brokers in the agricultural insurance sector.

IBAO President Joseph Carnevale emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and professional development in the insurance industry. “As brokers, it is our responsibility to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest developments and trends in the insurance world,” says Carnevale. “The launch of this eLearning course and the FIS designation is a testament to our commitment to providing our members with the tools and resources they need to excel in their roles.”

The IBAO’s new eLearning course on foundational farm insurance is a valuable resource for brokers looking to expand their knowledge and expertise in this specialized area. With the agricultural industry being a significant part of the Canadian economy, it is crucial for brokers to have a thorough understanding of the insurance needs of farmers. This course and the FIS designation will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of brokers in serving their farm clients.
