The Red Dot Players, a theatre group at Okanagan College, are gearing up to perform the classic Agatha Christie play, “Murder on the Orient Express.”

The play, which is based on Christie’s famous novel of the same name, follows the story of detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates a murder on a luxurious train journey. The play is known for its intricate plot and unexpected twists, making it a favorite among mystery fans.

The Red Dot Players, made up of students and community members, have been rehearsing for months to bring this iconic story to life on stage. Director and Okanagan College professor, Dr. Sarah Lefebvre, says that the group has put a lot of effort into staying true to the original story while also adding their own unique touches.

“We wanted to honor the original work of Agatha Christie, but also put our own spin on it,” Lefebvre said. “We have a talented cast and crew who have worked hard to bring this production to life.”

The play will feature a diverse cast, with students from various programs at Okanagan College, as well as community members from the Kelowna area. Lefebvre believes that this diversity adds depth to the production and allows for a more dynamic and engaging performance.

“We have students from different backgrounds and experiences, and it’s been amazing to see them come together and create something special,” she said.

The Red Dot Players are known for their high-quality productions, and “Murder on the Orient Express” is no exception. The group has put a lot of effort into creating a visually stunning set and costumes, as well as incorporating special effects to enhance the suspense and mystery of the play.

“We want the audience to feel like they are on the train with the characters, experiencing the same twists and turns,” Lefebvre explained.

The play will run for three nights at the Okanagan College Theatre in Kelowna, with tickets available for purchase online or at the door. The Red Dot Players are excited to share their hard work and passion for theatre with the community and hope to see a full house for each performance.

“We are thrilled to bring this classic story to the stage and hope that the audience will be on the edge of their seats until the very end,” Lefebvre said.
