Male Wanted for Robbery in Niagara Falls – Update 1 – ARRESTED

Updated Release – March 19, 2024

On March 15, 2024, the suspect was arrested by the Halton Regional Police Service.

On March 16, 2024, the Niagara Regional Police Service executed the arrest warrant on SMITH.

Stephane SMITH (54 years old) was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Robbery with a firearm Uttering threats Possession of firearm, weapon or ammunition contrary to prohibition order Drive motor vehicle no licence

SMITH was remanded following his bail hearing with a future court date.

Original Release – February 17, 2024

On Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 2:00pm, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the CIBC Bank located at 6225 Huggins Street in the City of Niagara Falls for a robbery.

Information was that a male suspect had entered the CIBC bank, brandished a black handgun, and demanded money. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was last seen travelling on foot.

There were no physical injuries in relation to the incident.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect.

The suspect was last known to be in the City of St. Catharines and his current whereabouts are unknown at this time.

Stephane SMITH is currently wanted for the following:

Robbery using a firearm Utter Threats

SMITH is described as:

Male White Unshaven Heavy set, 230lbs 5’ 8”

Clothing description:

Black coat Black pants Black rimmed glasses Dark cross body bag Flat cap Hat
