Two Edmonton teenagers, who have been charged with the death of a 16-year-old near an Edmonton high school, appeared in court on Monday.
The two accused, who cannot be named due to their age, were arrested on Friday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 16-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon near J. Percy Page High School in southeast Edmonton.
During their court appearance, the two teenagers were seen wearing orange jumpsuits and were accompanied by their lawyers. The courtroom was filled with family members and friends of the victim, who were visibly emotional.
The Crown prosecutor requested that the two accused be held in custody until their next court appearance, citing the seriousness of the charges. The judge granted the request and the two teenagers will remain in custody until their next court date on March 8.
The victim’s family and friends were seen leaving the courtroom in tears, while the two accused were escorted out by sheriffs.
