Amber Alert issued in B.C. after alleged abduction of infant

An Amber Alert has been issued in British Columbia after an alleged abduction of an infant.

According to authorities, the infant, who has been identified as 7-month-old Emily, was taken from her home in Surrey by her biological father, 27-year-old John Smith. The incident occurred on Monday evening at around 6:30 p.m.

The Surrey RCMP received a call from the infant’s mother, who reported that Smith had taken Emily without her consent. The mother also stated that Smith has a history of violence and drug use, and she is concerned for the safety of her child.

The Amber Alert was issued at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, and it has been shared on social media and broadcasted on television and radio stations across the province. The alert includes a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was last seen driving, a black 2019 Jeep Cherokee with the license plate number ABC123.

The RCMP has also released a photo of Emily and Smith in hopes of locating them as soon as possible. They are urging the public to be on the lookout for the suspect and the vehicle and to contact the police immediately if they have any information.

The Amber Alert has sparked a widespread search for Emily and Smith, with law enforcement agencies and community members working together to locate them. The RCMP has also reached out to other provinces and the United States in case the suspect has fled the province.

In a press conference, Surrey RCMP spokesperson Sgt. David Lee stated, “We are taking this matter very seriously and are doing everything in our power to locate Emily and bring her back to safety.”

The public is reminded to not approach the suspect or the vehicle and to call 911 immediately if they spot them. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The Amber Alert remains in effect until Emily is located and safely returned to her mother. The RCMP is urging the public to stay vigilant and to continue sharing the alert in hopes of bringing Emily home.
