An SUV crashed through two townhomes in Northeast Edmonton on Sunday morning, causing significant damage to the properties.
According to Edmonton police, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the area of 167 Avenue and 50 Street. The SUV, which was traveling at a high speed, lost control and crashed into the townhomes, causing extensive damage to both units.
Thankfully, no one was inside the townhomes at the time of the crash. However, the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The homeowners of the affected townhomes were shocked and devastated by the incident. One resident, who did not want to be named, described the sound of the crash as “like an explosion.”
The area was immediately cordoned off by police, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. At this time, it is unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.
