Canada’s Canadore College has recently made a significant investment in student housing and daycare facilities. The institution has purchased two former schools, which will be repurposed to cater to the needs of its students.
The first property, located on 570 First Avenue East, was previously known as St. Joseph’s School. It will now be transformed into a student residence, providing much-needed accommodation for those attending Canadore College. The building has a total of 18 units, with each unit having four bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. This will allow for a comfortable and convenient living space for students, as well as foster a sense of community among them.
The second property, located on 570 Second Avenue East, was formerly known as St. Theresa’s School. It will now serve as a daycare facility for the children of Canadore College students and staff. The building has a capacity for 49 children, with a mix of infant, toddler, and preschool programs. This will not only provide a much-needed service for the college community but also create job opportunities for qualified early childhood educators.
The decision to purchase these two properties was made in response to the growing demand for student housing and daycare services at Canadore College. With a constantly increasing student population, the college recognized the need to expand its facilities to better serve its students and their families.
President of Canadore College, George Burton, expressed his excitement about the new additions to the college’s infrastructure. He stated, “We are committed to providing our students with a well-rounded college experience, and these new facilities will greatly contribute to that. We are also proud to be able to offer daycare services to our students and staff, making it easier for them to balance their academic and personal lives.”
The purchase of these two properties not only benefits the college community but also the local community. The repurposing of these former schools will bring new life to the buildings and contribute to the revitalization of the surrounding neighborhoods.
Canadore College’s investment in student housing and daycare facilities demonstrates its dedication to meeting the needs of its students and creating a positive impact on the community. This is a significant step towards providing a well-rounded and supportive environment for students to thrive in their academic pursuits.
