Chatham-Kent athletes Emma Negri, Brooke Bentley, and CJ Roberts have made their mark at the OFSAA track and field championships, bringing home medals in their respective events.
Negri, a grade 12 student from Chatham-Kent Secondary School, took home the gold in the senior girls’ 400m hurdles event. She finished with a time of 1:01.72, beating out her closest competitor by over a second.
Bentley, a grade 11 student from Ursuline College Chatham, also had a strong showing, earning a silver medal in the junior girls’ 100m hurdles event. She finished with a time of 14.08 seconds, just 0.04 seconds behind the gold medalist.
Roberts, a grade 12 student from Chatham-Kent Secondary School, brought home a bronze medal in the senior boys’ 400m event. He finished with a time of 48.85 seconds, just 0.02 seconds behind the silver medalist.
These impressive performances by Chatham-Kent athletes showcase the talent and dedication of our local track and field community. The OFSAA championships, held in Toronto, bring together the top high school athletes from across the province to compete in a variety of events.
Negri, Bentley, and Roberts have all worked tirelessly to reach this level of competition, and their hard work has paid off with these well-deserved medals. Their achievements not only bring pride to their schools and families, but also to the entire Chatham-Kent community.
