A company in Brooks, Alberta has been charged in connection with a workplace death that occurred in 2022.
According to reports, the incident took place at a construction site in Brooks on January 15, 2022. The victim, a 32-year-old man, was working on a project for the company when he suffered a fatal injury.
After an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) department, it was determined that the company had failed to provide a safe working environment for its employees. As a result, the company has been charged with one count of failing to ensure the health and safety of a worker under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The company is scheduled to appear in court on June 1, 2022. If found guilty, they could face a maximum penalty of $500,000 or six months in jail.
