Voodoos deliver Espanola Paper Kings star back home

The Powassan Voodoos have made a significant move in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) by acquiring Espanola Express star forward, Devon Savignac.

Savignac, a native of Powassan, Ontario, returns to his hometown team after spending the past two seasons with the Espanola Express. The 19-year-old forward has proven to be a valuable asset on the ice, recording 25 goals and 27 assists in 90 games with the Express.

The Voodoos’ head coach, Max Gavin, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating that Savignac’s skill and experience will be a great addition to the team. He also mentioned that Savignac’s familiarity with the organization and the community will make for a smooth transition.

Savignac, who was drafted by the Voodoos in 2018, is looking forward to playing for his hometown team once again. He expressed his gratitude towards the Espanola Express for the past two seasons and is now eager to join the Voodoos and contribute to their success.

The trade was made official on Monday, with the Voodoos sending a player development fee to the Espanola Express in exchange for Savignac’s rights. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Voodoos are currently in second place in the NOJHL standings with a record of 17-6-1-1. With the addition of Savignac, they hope to continue their success and make a strong push towards the playoffs.

Savignac is expected to make his debut with the Voodoos on Friday, December 6th, when they take on the French River Rapids at the Powassan Sportsplex. Fans are encouraged to come out and support their hometown team as they welcome back one of their own.
