Quebec moguls master Mikaël Kingsbury wins 90th World Cup

Quebec’s very own mogul master, Mikaël Kingsbury, has once again proven his dominance on the world stage by winning his 90th World Cup title.

The 28-year-old skier from Deux-Montagnes, Quebec, competed in the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup in Deer Valley, Utah on Saturday, February 13th. Despite challenging weather conditions, Kingsbury managed to secure the top spot on the podium with a score of 86.69.

This victory marks Kingsbury’s 90th World Cup win, solidifying his position as the most successful mogul skier in history. He now holds a record-breaking 63 individual wins, along with 27 team event wins.

Kingsbury’s impressive career began in 2010 when he made his World Cup debut at the age of 17. Since then, he has consistently dominated the sport, winning eight consecutive Crystal Globes for the overall World Cup title and seven consecutive World Championship titles.

In addition to his numerous World Cup wins, Kingsbury also has an Olympic silver medal from the 2014 Sochi Games and a gold medal from the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.

Despite his incredible success, Kingsbury remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He credits his success to his hard work, determination, and the support of his team and coaches.

Kingsbury’s coach, Dominick Gauthier, praised his athlete’s performance, saying, “He’s a machine. He’s always ready to perform, and he’s always ready to win.”

Kingsbury’s win in Deer Valley also puts him in a strong position for the overall World Cup title this season. With only three events remaining, he currently holds a 200-point lead over his closest competitor, Benjamin Cavet of France.

Fans and fellow athletes took to social media to congratulate Kingsbury on his latest victory. Canadian Olympic snowboarder, Mark McMorris, tweeted, “Congrats to the legend @MikaelKingsbury on his 90th World Cup win! Unreal.”

Kingsbury’s next competition will be at the World Cup finals in Almaty, Kazakhstan in March, where he will have the opportunity to add to his impressive record.

In the meantime, Kingsbury will continue to train and push himself to new heights, always striving for perfection in his sport. As he said in a recent interview, “I’m always trying to be better, to push the limits, and to be the best in the world.”
