Pokémon card stolen while being sold for $7,000 north of Toronto: police

A valuable Pokémon card worth $7,000 was stolen while being sold in the North of Toronto, according to police.

The incident occurred on February 22, when the victim met with a potential buyer at a coffee shop on Yonge Street near Sheppard Avenue. The buyer had expressed interest in purchasing the rare card, which was a first edition Charizard from the 1999 Pokémon Base Set.

As the transaction was taking place, the victim briefly stepped away from the table, leaving the card unattended. In that short time, the buyer took the card and fled the scene.

The victim immediately contacted the police, who have since released a surveillance image of the suspect. The individual is described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 5’10” tall with a slim build and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black baseball cap.

The stolen card is highly sought after by collectors and can fetch a high price on the market. It is a holographic card featuring the iconic fire-breathing dragon Pokémon, Charizard.

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the stolen card to come forward. They are also reminding the public to be cautious when conducting transactions with strangers and to always keep valuable items secure.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being vigilant and taking necessary precautions when buying or selling valuable items. The police are actively investigating the case and are determined to retrieve the stolen card and bring the perpetrator to justice.
