Soccer gear stolen from fields at New Westminster school, park: police

Soccer gear has been reported stolen from fields at a school park in New Westminster, according to local police.

The incident occurred at the school park located on 8th Avenue and 12th Street on February 25th, according to a statement from the New Westminster Police Department.

The stolen items include a set of soccer nets, corner flags, and a bag of soccer balls. The total value of the stolen gear is estimated to be around $1,000.

Police are currently investigating the incident and are asking for the public’s help in identifying any suspects. They are also urging anyone with information to come forward.

In the statement, Sergeant Sanjay Kumar stated, “This is a disappointing and frustrating incident for the community, especially for the young athletes who use this park for their soccer practices and games.”

The stolen gear was used by the New Westminster Youth Soccer Association, which provides opportunities for children and youth to participate in organized soccer programs.

The association’s president, Paul Harris, expressed his disappointment and concern over the theft, stating, “It’s unfortunate that someone would steal from a community organization that is dedicated to providing a safe and positive environment for our youth.”

The New Westminster Police Department is reminding the public to report any suspicious activity in the area and to secure their belongings to prevent theft.
